About
About PacketGauge
DNS, TLS, HTTP, mail and BGP diagnostics for public domains and IP addresses.
Domain diagnosis
One domain, multiple protocol checks: A/AAAA, NS, MX, DNSSEC, resolver consistency, HTTP redirects and headers, TLS certificates, SMTP transport, IPv6 reachability and RPKI. Findings link back to the measured data; unavailable checks are reported separately.
Infrastructure
IP addresses, origin ASNs, network organizations, PTR, nameservers and MX targets. Provider and CDN hints come from observed names or ASNs. An ASN identifies a network, not necessarily the hoster. IP geolocation is an estimate; a reverse proxy can hide the origin.
Output
Readable results and JSON. Download a Markdown report, save snapshots in browser storage, compare runs or repeat a diagnosis after a change. The Toolbox exposes individual checks; the JSON API provides the server-side operations for scripts.
Measurement limits
A run is a snapshot from this service's measurement location. Geo-DNS, anycast, resolver caches and timeouts can change the answer. Different DNS responses do not by themselves prove a configuration error. Checks have time and request limits; an incomplete check is not a pass.
Names
Netzwerkzeug and PacketGauge are the same service under different domains.
